Launching into Learning

Launching into Learning is a free program where you and your children get to know our school community. It is for families with children from birth – 4 years of age and is available in all Tasmanian Government schools.

Children learn a lot in the early years of life. Launching into Learning/i> provides opportunities for< you to be involved in your child’s learning in a supportive environment, helping you give your child a great start.

Why should you get involved?

  • Your child will be involved in experiences that will help develop their talking, reading, physical, social and emotional skills in an atmosphere of fun and creativity.
  • Launching into Learning will support you and your child to have a successful transition to school.
  • Playing together helps build lasting relationships.
  • You will have the opportunity to access support and form friendships.

What can you expect?

Parents, teachers and children playing alongside each other, having fun and learning together through a variety of programs such as; Reading Magic, Move and Groove, Pre-Kinder and Finger Olympics.

Canteen

Scottsdale Primary School provide a school canteen which operates Tuesday to Friday. Items can be ordered and paid for through an online App – Qkr or through the classroom each morning. The canteen offers a range of healthy food options for children with regular specials and changes to the menu.

Scottsdale Primary School Association

The Association is made up of the parents, staff and community members of Scottsdale Primary School. The purpose of the Association is to provide members with a way to participate and be involved in supporting the school. The Association works with the Principal to achieve shared outcomes for learners and the whole school.

The main functions of the Association?

  • development of school policies, school improvement plans and the formulation of school objectives, priorities, strategic directions and values
  • planning the financial arrangements to support these objectives
  • evaluating the school’s performance to achieve those objectives, priorities, strategic directions and values
  • the selection process of a Principal, where a permanent vacancy exists
  • fostering the value and benefits of education
  • encouraging co-operation among teachers, students, parents and the school community raising funds to benefit the school

How can you be involved in the Association?

As a member of the Association you can:

  • attend General Meetings of the Association
  • nominate for the Association Committee
  • where they exist, you can join a Subcommittee of the Association Committee. At Scottsdale primary there are 2 committees; canteen and parents and friends
  • support Association events or fundraising
  • Friends and Parents Committee

The Scottsdale Primary School Parents and Friends Committee

The Scottsdale Primary School Parents and Friends committee are a collaborative group which organise and coordinate fundraising on behalf of the school. A routine meeting is held once a term, with more frequent meetings organised as needed in the lead up to a fundraising event. The School Fair is our major fundraiser and happens bi-annually. All classes are involved and sub-committees are set up to work alongside the students and committee to make the event a successful one. All parents are invited to join the Parents and Friends and enquiries may be directed to Hayley Heazlewood via the school office.

Uniform

All Scottsdale children are required and encouraged to wear their school uniform with pride.

Girls

Summer:
  • Shirt style dress in Tootaline (red, green and white small checks) or plain black shorts, bottle-green polo top with school logo
  • Bottle-green polar fleece with or without school logo
  • Black shoes or sandshoes
  • Black bucket hat
Winter:
  • A-line skirt or tunic in Scottsdale tartan with black tights or plain black trousers, bottle-green polo top with school logo, bottle-green polar fleece with or without school logo
  • Black shoes or sandshoes

Boys:

Summer:
  • Plain black shorts, bottle-green polo top with school logo

Hats

We are a Sunsmart school.  Broad brim hats must be worn in terms 1 & 4.

Black bucket hats are available from the school office. Baseball type CAPS are not permitted to be worn.

Polo tops, shorts, trousers and polar fleece tops can be purchased from the school. Dresses and skirts can be purchased from local Scottsdale clothing shops.

For safety and practical reasons jewellery is not permitted.
Watches and stud or sleeper earrings are allowed

Please name all clothing items in the interest of reducing lost property.
